Well for most of the practical uses, according to Apple, it just might. A new section on the Apple’s website dedicated specifically to HTML5 and the proof that “we” don’t really need Flash anymore. When I read about this first in a WebDesigner magazine, and even heard about this earlier, I thought it was just talk and propaganda Jobs was throwing around because he did not like Flash for some personal reasons, but after checking out what they’ve built and seen with my own eyes what can be done without Flash I could not believe my eyes.

HTML5 is still in development and none of the browsers really support it just yet. Apple’s Safari browser has the most support, from my own tests. I used the HTML5test.com tool to test my browsers and here is what I see, out of the possible 300 points:
Safari – 208 points
Chrome – 197 points
FireFox – 139 points
Opera – 67 points
Internet Explorer – 27 points
So in my experience, Safari is an OK browser, which have been getting better and better but I am not quiet ready to switch over, FireFox is still the browser for me. Bottom line is until these browsers get their HTML5 support up closer to 300, Flash should be fine, but I do see the end of having to embed flash objects in the near future.
